No Rain, No Rainbow

We will never find our happiness if we are unwilling to put in the work.

“To be successful, you must be willing to do the things today others won’t do in order to have the things tomorrow others won’t have” – Les Brown

We, humans, are a lazy bunch. We want it all, we want it now, and we don’t want to do anything for it; including our happiness. It is why credit was established and why most of us are all in debt, some beyond our means. It is why our population is becoming overweight, electing to enjoy our TV time over exercise. We give up way too easy on our dreams for not a lack of energy, but a lack of passion. We believe in instant success because it is all we see around us and not the journey to get there. We desire to get to letter “Z” by starting with the letter “G” and skipping all of the letters in between.

In a world where we share all of our life’s experiences, it overexposes us to the successes of others. We all see the rainbow of success and are not privy to the insane habits and devastating failures of the rain along the way. Our happiness gets sucked into the comparison of our lives versus theirs, and it leaves us left with a void.

To be a success, and I don’t mean money, job titles and the like, I mean REAL success as in being able to find your happiness at a moments notice, you have to be willing to put in the work. It is one thing to see a passion in the everyday things you do, but to be passionate about finding your inner happiness and then doing everything in your power to hold on to it, is the rain to your rainbow. The beauty of a rainbow is that it is nearly the sunshine that is following a storm. The awesome byproduct of transition from the intensity of work to the marvel of success.

If you are to find your inner happiness, you can’t skip the hard work to get there. You must work hard every day, ridding yourself of the pain of yesterday. You must regain control over your emotions by owning them and not pointing fingers of blame. You must sweat and put a priority on your physical health and relentlessly protect your mental health.

You will never find your rainbow of happiness without the dampening uncomfortableness of the rain. Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight. Fight for your happiness, it is all you got to carry you through this life.
