Recently, I’ve been struggling with a lot of motivational issues. In a reality that is continually changing, it is hard for me to stay the course on any one thing for long. The motivation to evolve alongside change is becoming very difficult to uphold. Is it just me feeling this way?
It seems the only motivation I have now is to fend off the urge to lay down and become another victim of apathy.
The Reason for This Blog
The most magnificent reflections in my life come to me when I work out. There are all kinds of science behind why your mind opens up when you’re in beast mode. It’s the reason why many people become addicted to body movement in the first place -myself included.
Before each workout, I set an intention to learn something about my life and world. And then, I record it on this blog to encapsulate my thoughts and then share them with you.
What Was My Intention?
My intention with this workout will be to understand where my motivational drain is really coming from. Is it just that I’m tired? Or is there a shift in my thinking?
How Did I Feel Before?
Physically, I’m still sore from my upper body strength training I did on Wednesday. This soreness will not bode well for the full-body strength training that I will do today. Mentally, I am “meh.”
What Did I Do?
- Bike: 15 minute warm-up
- Full body weight circuit with focus on legs.
- Ab set on the mat.
How Do I Feel After?
I feel pretty good, but I think I’m wearing down a little. Looking for a rest this weekend.
What Did I Learn?
I think what I’ve done was become motivated by the result and not the process. Patience is the key to almost everything in life, including living itself.
