Fitness is different for everyone. Some rely on it to make a living, others to raise children, and others see fitness as having some control over their health. Many take advantage of their fitness, while others chose to ignore it.

Our bodies are mysterious to most of us. While we know we have brains, hearts, lungs and a bunch of other vital organs, a vast majority of us have never seen them. We go about our days, relying on these beautifully created biotic machines to keep us alive. Yet, when they start to fail, we quickly become aware of their power over us. But you can be mindful of that power well in advance of illness once you become committed to your fitness.

Ignoring your fitness is like neglecting your scheduled oil changes in your car. The longer you put off getting that oil change, the more likely you are to have an engine problem — many of us take better care of our cars than we do our bodies.

So what does fitness mean to you? Better yet, what does YOUR fitness mean to you?

The Reason for This Blog


The most magnificent reflections in my life come to me when I work out. There are all kinds of science behind why your mind opens up when you’re in beast mode. It’s the reason why many people become addicted to body movement in the first place -myself included.

Before each workout, I set an intention to learn something about my life and world. And then, I record it on this blog to encapsulate my thoughts and then share them with you.

What Was My Intention?


For this workout, I intend to reflect on what my fitness means to me. Since I changed my workout routines a month ago, I’ve been much more sensitive to my fitness levels.

How Did I Feel Before?


Yesterday’s yoga was the bomb.com!! My legs feel so much better after that good stretch. Today, I feel as though I am working with a fresh new canvas.

What Did I Do?


  • Treadmill: 15 minute warmup run at a 5 min/km pace with moderate hills.
  • Weights: Lat pull downs, inclined dumbell flys, dumbell rows, deadlifts, mid cable crossovers and pushups with weighted rows.
  • Ab set on the mat.

How Do I Feel After?


My shoulders feel like rubber! But I love it! The pushups with weighted rows were very tough but it was a challenge I enjoyed.

What Did I Learn?


My fitness is my greatest asset in life. And so, I do everything in my power to invest in it and take care of it. I’ll be old someday, but I won’t feel old. Because I am medicating my body now with its purpose, so that in the future, I won’t have to take medication for it to serve its purpose.

I would not be the father, husband or friend I am today without my fitness. And while I don’t pretend to be perfect at any of those roles, my fitness gets me closer to at least being my best. To me, my fitness comes above everything else. Without it, I’m incapable of serving anyone.

My fitness saved my life by curing me of the emotional pain of my past. And while I still have some lingering remnants from that old life, my fitness always comes through and douses those flickering embers. Without my fitness, I would be an emotional void.

I owe everything I have to my fitness.
