Dear Jeff

Dear Jeff,

You have spent a majority of your vacation not living in the present; what a shame! You know living in the present is the key to your happiness and yet you let it slip away these past couple of weeks. Stop comparing your life to others. As you have seen these past two weeks, when you compare yourself to others, you stop growing. When you stop growing, you regress back to the negative and close minded person that you loathe the most. Stop being that person!

Never forget…

Someone will always have a nicer house, car and toys.

Someone will always have more money than you.

Someone will always be better at their job than you.

Someone will always be healthier and more fit than you.

Someone will always have more friends than you.

Someone will always be more popular than you.

Someone will always have accomplished more than you.

Someone will always be more talented than you.

Someone will always eat better than you.

Someone will always have more opportunity than you.

Someone will always be younger than you.

Stop comparing yourself to others, you will never be them, they will never be you. While you are occupying yourself with these thoughts you are robbing your life of it’s beauty.

You may be nothing to someone, but you are everything to your son. Never forget what your purpose is, never forget why you get up each morning. Never forget why you MUST live in the present. You only have a limited amount of time and opportunity to raise your son. None of those people that you compare your life to can raise your son as good as you. He is your life. Everything you do and have will be good enough for him but living in the past or the future only serves to waste the precious time you have with him and really… you don’t have much time left.

Stay present.
